The World Economic Forum has identified climate action failure and extreme weather among the top global risks, with unprecedented changes in climatic conditions and its impacts now a strong concern for governments and businesses across the globe. Manpreet Singh, a partner in KPMG’s global climate and sustainability practice, will kick off the program with a presentation highlighting the need for climate change risk management and what the responses have been from various stakeholder groups such as regulators, investors, governments, and civil society. He will also discuss climate change related risks and opportunities, and recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) for disclosing climate-related risks in financial filings.
Usha Yadav, a faculty member of the State Bank Institute of Credit and Risk Management will follow up by presenting her views on the same issue from a banking industry perspective, specifically how seriously the industry is taking the current situation and the various initiatives to mitigate and counter possible risks.

Mr. Manpreet Singh is partner in the Climate Change and Sustainability practice of KPMG. He has extensive experience of working with businesses, governments and other organisations understand and communicate the impact of business on critical sustainability issues including climate change. He is specialized in areas such as climate change mitigation, climate change adaptation, climate finance, urban resilience, responsible sourcing, sustainability strategy, reporting and assurance, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), sustainable transport and green growth strategies among others.
Usha Yadav, AGM, State Bank of India
Ms. Usha Yadav has put in 25 years of service in the Banking industry. She is presently working as faculty at State Bank Institute of Credit and Risk Management. During her career she has been a core team member for implementation of CBS at branches, headed ORMD at erstwhile SBBJ (now merged with SBI). She has a firsthand experience of the risks at ground level as she has worked as well as headed various types of branches. As for her educational qualification she has done her graduation from Delhi University, followed by LLB from Delhi. After joining the Banking Industry, she has completed CAIIB and Moody’s Analytics Commercial Credit Certification.
